Presents high-luminance patches from RGB 220 up to 255 against a pure white background. When display Contrast is set excessively high, near-white highlights clip into pure white, obliterating subtle clouds and specular details.
Technical Scope & Limitations
Tests digital highlight separation (220–255). Does not measure peak nit output or HDR tone mapping curves.
Browser rendering output can be influenced by OS display scaling, GPU driver color settings, and active HDR profiles.
- Enter fullscreen mode.
- Inspect the grid of near-white squares against the pure white background.
- On a properly calibrated monitor, squares up to RGB 250–253 should remain faintly distinguishable from the 255 white surround.
- If all squares above 240 blend into a single white block, your display contrast is clipping highlights (lower monitor Contrast).
