Technical Scope & Limitations
Evaluates the combined result of monitor OSD sharpness, GPU scaling filters, and browser rendering.
Browser rendering output can be influenced by OS display scaling, GPU driver color settings, and active HDR profiles.
- Enter fullscreen mode.
- Look closely at the high-contrast black edges on white backgrounds.
- If you see a glowing white line or halo surrounding dark shapes, your monitor Sharpness is set too high (causing ringing).
- Reduce monitor Sharpness until halos disappear and lines remain crisp.
What This Test Checks
- Edge ringing: artificial white outlines around high-contrast black shapes.

The "Neutral" Sharpness Setting
On many monitors, the neutral (unprocessed) setting is not 50%. On Dell and LG monitors, 50% is often neutral, while on Samsung monitors, 0% or 60% can be neutral. Adjust until halos vanish completely.
