Dirty Screen Effect (DSE) is often invisible on static images but becomes glaringly obvious during camera pans in sports or video games. This test provides adjustable-speed horizontal and vertical panning patterns across 5%, 10%, 20%, and 50% gray fields.

What Causes Dirty Screen Effect?

DSE is caused by minor manufacturing variations in panel thickness, diffuser sheet alignment, and LED backlight spacing. Virtually all LED-lit LCD displays have some degree of DSE, but extreme banding is considered defective.
